Ian Lindeman

Ian Lindeman founded the Winter Solstice Nude Charity Swim in 2017.

Ian was passionate about running an event that not only captured Canberra’s community spirit, but also gave participants the opportunity to re-invigorate their own spirit in the new solar year.

The event captures some of the exuberance, joy and verve that Ian had in his fortunate life. He loved travelling with his wife Gwenda, meeting friends, going to the Old Canberra Inn, having barbeques, and generally socialising. Swimming was also something Ian loved and practiced consistently throughout his life.

He passed away on 20 November 2019 from liver cancer.

Jakob Oakey

Jakob Oakey left this world on the 19th of February 2016 after a long, brave battle with mental health issues and diabetes. Jakob is "Forever Young", he died at the age of just 18 years old.

A truly gentle person, Jakob was particularly gifted with animals and children who adored him. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as swimming, scooter, skate board and bike riding. He was particularly proud of his 100km triathlon achievement. Jakob had many friends in the communities where he lived throughout his short life, Canberra, Yass and Hervey Bay.

Jakob’s mother, Katherine, is a volunteer, who helps us out with organising ‘The Swim’. We are sure Jakob would be proud.

Evan “Ev” Lindeman

Evan “Ev” Lindeman’s life ended in February 2018 at the age of 34 years. He was “Naughty but Nice”. His beautiful big grin, soft heart and a loving personality made him popular with all ages.

He went to Lyneham High School and Dickson College. Evan played junior rugby with Wests, representing the ACT for several years.

Ev was a daredevil who loved a challenge and taking a risk. He worked hard and played hard, but most importantly, he was very kind and caring to his fellow man. He actually felt more for his fellow man than he did for himself.

Steve “Tanga” Wright

Steve “Tanga” Wright left us in November 2017 at the age of 29. Steve was a compassionate and loving family man and friend. In addition, he loved his music, his guitar and a party.

Steve was a charismatic and humorous individual who expressed his love for the people around him through generosity and kindness. He has many old friends from his days at Daramalan College.

An incredibly kind soul, Steve will be missed by many and never forgotten.
